Why Scripture First?
by Steve Santini
I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I
sing praise unto thee.
I will worship toward thy holy
temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness
and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified
thy word above all thy name. Psalm 138:1, 2
Praise,
worship, and understandings of God’s loving kindness and truth are the result
of the words of scripture that expand the Holy Name of God..
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we
beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of
grace and truth. John 1:14
The entire scripture is centered upon
Christ. The four gospels are about Jesus, the Christ.
And that from a child
thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto
salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. I Timothy 3:15
Salvation is being regenerated in purity through
resurrection for eternal life in the coming Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
Salvation is obtained through grace by faith.
So
then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
The word hearing implies repetition and is inclusive of
reading and thinking.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and
sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of
soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the
thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
To become
wise unto salvation through faith one needs a powerful and lively center
reference and a reliable compass.
And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them,
and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, Acts 17:2
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica,
in that they received the word with all readiness of mind,
and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Therefore many of them believed;
also of honourable women which were Greeks,
and of men, not a few Acts 17:11,12
And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man,
and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. Acts:18:24:
For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly,
shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ. Acts:18:28
Jesus Christ, after his resurrection, and the two men from Emmaus
And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us,
while he talked with us by the way,
and while he opened to us the scriptures? Luke:24:32
Jesus Christ, after his resurrection, with his apostles and disciples
Then opened he their understanding,
that they might understand the scriptures, Luke 24:45
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2Timothy 3:16
