On Observing the CelestialsComets and Constellations and Signs and Seasons by Steve Santini 2009, revised 2014
Great Comet McNaught with Jupiter after Sunset Southern Hemisphere, Mid Winter 2007 The heavens have always fascinated man. Sunrise, sunset, sparkling white diamonds cast across black velvet, and glowing orbs moving in their predestined paces proclaiming what? The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Psalm 19:1 From the beginning, God made known the purpose of the lights he set in the heavens. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Genesis 1:14 The Hebrew word for signs is owth.[1] It has been defined as a pledge of a covenant and as a signboard or standard pointing towards the future. This invariable signboard of the heavens with its anciently named constellations and their decans and asterisms provides the backdrop in front of which the orbs move touching or gathering for an occasion then moving on as man has, likewise, from antiquity, been moved towards ultimate union with divinity. The Hebrew word for seasons is moed. It means appointed meeting.[2] Its root yaad is more revealing in light of the frequent scriptural references to Jesus Christ's coming being like a wedding feast. Yaad has within its definitions to appoint for betrothal and/or for marriage.[3] In the nineteenth psalm, quoted first above, is a confirmation of this purpose of the writing in the heavens. Their(the heavens) line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the radiance thereof. Psalms 19:4-6 The Lord defined his promise to
Abraham, the father of faith, according to the stars. And He brought
him forth abroad and said "Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars if thou
be able to number them:" And He said unto him, "So shall thy seed be." The ancient Hebrew word saphar
for number means to reckon or to assess.
It does not emphasize the actual number but does emphasize their placement and
interpretation. The phonemes and meaning of the word have come down to us as
the English word cipher meaning a secret method of communication. Overall, the constellations, decans and asterisms tell the story of man's redemption. The Lord and his saints are highlighted as Ophiuchus, Hercules, Sagittarius, Bootes, Argo, Aquila and Perseus. And along with them in the heavens are a number of masculine-feminine pairs, like Cepheus
and Cassiopeia, Perseus and Andromeda, the barley seed
and the wheat seed of Virgo, the pair of Pisces and the pair of Gemini according to the ancient
linear Zodiac of Denderah and the original Coptic Christian belief. As prefigured in his recent meeting with Melchisedec and as shown him in the heavenly signs, God promised Abraham, the father of faith, that he and his seed would one day be joined with the Lord and his saints. (Genesis 14:1-15:6, Zechariah 14:5, Jude 14) In the gospels, Jesus Christ pointed to the observation of the heavens as a harbinger of his second coming to establish the kingdom of God on earth. For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. Luke 17:24 The Greek noun for lightning is astrape and its verb form astrapto underlies the English word lighteneth. They mean a dazzling light or flash of light.[4] Thayer's Greek English Lexicon of the New Testament states that both words are probably rooted in the Greek word aster meaning a star. And to the ancient Easterners all luminous heavenly bodies were types of stars. Four verses prior to this verse when Jesus was confronted by the Pharisees demanding the time of the coming kingdom of God Jesus responded: The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Luke 17:20b In this instance the King James' translation is inadequate. Questions beginning with ouk and using the indicative, as this verse does, require a positive answer, while those beginning with un and using the indicative require a negative answer.[5] The verse would be better translated as: "Doesn't the kingdom of God come with observation?" So, it is in this context that Jesus spoke of star like dazzling lights periodically crossing the heavens as being heralds of the coming kingdom of God on earth.
The Galactic Center and Great Comet McNaught From the perspective of earth all celestial objects rise in
the eastern night sky and traverse the heavens unto the western horizon. The
heavenly signs commencing with Jupiter's presence with the sun in the Golden
Gate of Heaven on the winter solstice in 1995 along
with its 12 year circuit through the twelve constellations of the zodiac unto it's
presence again with the sun in the Golden Gate of Heaven on the winter solstice
in 2007 would have captivated ancient priests like the Magi who once, after
observing a series of celestial events involving Jupiter, set out on a quest to
pay homage to the young child Jesus. In 1995, after Jupiter's presence with the sun in the Golden
Gate of Heaven, bright comet Hyakutake and Great Comet Hale Bopp reached naked eye visibility
during 1996 and 1997 respectively. Hyakutake became naked eye visible in the spring of 1996 as it traveled from Libra up the eastern side of Ophiuchus and then in December of that year Hale Bopp brightened as it traveled from Sagittarius up the western side of Ophiuchus. Great Comet Hale Bopp arced through
the vault of the heavens following the Galactic Circle from Ophiuchus,
the Greek Healer and Universal Remedy who stands over the Golden Gate of
Heaven unto Orion below the Silver Gate of Heaven.
In
the midst of this span, during May of 2002, just after sunset, all five of the
naked eye visible planets met in the western sky. Mercury, Venus, Mars
and Saturn were historically massed in the head of Taurus with Jupiter, the ruling planet, not far
away just across the Silver Gate of Heaven in Gemini representing the betrothed couple. As the planets were
gathering two comets became naked eye visible not far away. In March, Comet Ikeya-Zhang became naked eye visible as it passed through
Pisces and onward through Andromeda, the bound woman. Then during the first month of the Hebrew religious new year in
April of 2002, Comet Utsunomiya became
naked eye visible as it passed through Andromeda and crossed the earlier path of Ikeya-Zhang. Utsunomiya continued to be naked eye visible as it came into very close
conjunction with Mercury when Mercury was massed with Venus, Saturn and Mars in
Taurus during May. The night's sky after sunset in the west and in the east before sunrise were significant to the ancient Eastern priests. Celestial configurations in the east before sunrise indicated that the affects were forthcoming while those of the western sky would be more distant. In April of 2002, Comets Ikeya-Zhang and Utsunomiya were visible in Andromeda in the eastern sky before sunrise. After Utsunomiya crossed the celestial longitude of the sun in late April, it became visible after sunset in the western sky. In May it congregated with Saturn, Mars, Venus and Mercury in Taurus below Jupiter who was standing in Gemini just beyond Heaven's Silver Gate.
This 12 year span of 16
naked eye visible comets during Jupiter's cycle around the zodiac ended in a more remarkable
fashion than when it in began in 1995. 2007 commenced with the dazzling
appearance of Great Comet McNaught. It reached naked
eye visibility around the winter solstice of 2006 in eastern Ophiuchus above the Golden Gate of Heaven where Great Comet Hale Bopp was spawned in 1996. In mid January of 2007 McNaught brightened to daylight naked eye visibility at
an amazing minus six magnitude as it curved around the Galactic Center just beyond
Sagittarius representing the place of the mighty ones. As McNaught was brightening in early January, Jupiter had entered a
unique eight month retrograde zone bounded by the feet
of Ophiuchus, treading on the malevolent Scorpio according to the Hebrews. In April, during the Hebrew Feast of Unleavened Bread, Jupiter halted in the eastern foot of Ophiuchus and reversed its motion.
In October of 2007, as Jupiter was exiting this retrograde zone faint Comet Holmes astonishingly
burst into naked eye visibility within a day while in the sign of Perseus who holds the decapitated head of Satan. In
conclusion Jupiter joined the sun in the Golden Gate of Heaven beneath Ophiuchus on the winter solstice of 2007.
As if it were an
exclamation point, an astrophysical phenomenon appeared over the celestial position
of Ophiuchus two years later on the ninth of December
in 2009. An expansive cycling
luminous spiral
appeared there for 11 minutes in the predawn sky southeast of Tromso, Norway. The sight was so unusual that it made
international news broadcasts that day yet was dubiously dismissed the next day,
as have been many signs and wonders over the millennia. King David, the psalmist wrote: The
heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth
his handiwork. Day
unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There
is no speech nor
language, where their voice is not heard. Their
line is gone out through all the earth, and their
words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his
chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run
a race. Psalm 19:1-5
These verses and events make one
wonder: could the chamber be the area of the Golden Gate of Heaven at the
intersection of the Galactic Circle and the circle of the Zodiac under the
eastern foot of Ophiuchus where the galactic center's light glows
through clouds of cosmic dust in
heaven's dark night? And could Christ, himself, be that bridegroom to come out
of this chamber sending forth his saints as the holy angels to gather his beloved faithful?
